Dear Parent or Guardian,
The school year is in full swing! Now that High School Applications have been submitted, we wanted to share some updates to the following 8th Grade Activities:
8th Grade Events
Picture Day - Date: Monday, January 13, 2025
- An order form will be backpacked home closer to the day of the event. Information about the cost of packages was emailed to parents via their NYCSA account in December along with a flier that was backpacked home.
- Attached is the official envelope to be used if a family is purchasing a photo package. Money must be brought in on the day of the event. Photos cannot be ordered later.
- All 8th grade students will be taking photos on this day for the yearbook, regardless of if a package is purchased. Students should dress accordingly. There are no retake days scheduled.
Dues - $75
- All payments are due by January 31, 2025.
- Senior Dues cover the cost of your students' Graduation Cap & Gown, a “Class of..” shirt with a matching bag, Senior Fun Day (June 11th) and a copy of the yearbook (Note: Payment does not cover Senior Photos or the Senior Dance).
- Senior Dues will be collected by Ms.Teresa (Main Office). Please reach out to Ms.Teresa if you would like to set up a payment plan.
Dance - $30
- Date: Thursday, June 12th
- Location: IS126Q
- Time: 4:30pm - 7:30pm
- Reminder: Senior Dues must be paid before contributing to any other Senior Activity.
- Dance payment will not be collected until a later date.
- More information will be shared in the spring.

8th Grade Promotional Criteria
The promotional criteria to graduate from 8th grade requires that 8th grade students pass all of their core content area subjects for the year. Excessive absences and/or latenesses has a negative impact on one’s academic performance in school because it equates to lost instructional time. We ask that you closely monitor your child’s absences and latenesses.
NYCSA Accounts
It is incredibly important that you set up a NYCSA account. We use this account to email and/or text important information as we progress through the year. This account also gives you access to your child’s teachers, their report cards each marking period and allows you to monitor their progress between report cards as well as IReady scores.
